Black Otter Bunny
Black Otter BunnyI began needle felting bunnies a few years back when I wrote an online class around Easter time (if you'd like to learn how to make your own bunnies, you can find the class here). It turns out that bunnies are a lot of fun to make! Brian and I have made several of them together. This one's coloration is referred to as 'black otter' by folks who know rabbits. 2008. Sold.
Santa Cthulhu #4
Santa Cthulhu #4Back again! Our 4th needle felted Santa Cthulhu captures Santa in action, arriving with wonderful treats from the briny deep. Complete with needle felted fireplace and stocking-adorned mantle, Santa carries a dead trout and a live moray eel. Who wouldn't want both for Christmas? Santa is 13" tall while the fireplace is 7" tall. 2012. Sold.
Polar Bear
Polar BearI sympathize with this polar bear. He's been eating too many sno-cones and his bottom has grown quite round because of it. He is part of an online class I wrote if you'd like to learn how to make your own. 6" tall. 2009. Sold.
Broken Black Bunny
Broken Black BunnyI began needle felting bunnies a few years back when I wrote an online class around Easter time (if you'd like to learn how to make your own bunnies, you can find the class here). It turns out that bunnies are a lot of fun to make! Brian and I have made several of them together. This one's coloration is referred to as 'broken black' by folks who know rabbits. 2008. Sold.
Reindeer Bunny
Reindeer BunnyI began needle felting bunnies a few years back when I wrote an online class around Easter time (if you'd like to learn how to make your own bunnies, you can find the class here). It turns out that bunnies are a lot of fun to make! Brian and I have made several of them together. This one really wanted to be on the team pulling Santa's sleigh. 2008. Sold.
Rhino
RhinoRhinos aren't always ill-tempered. They have sweethearts, too. This fellow has a flower for his special someone! 3.5" tall. 2009. Sold.
Heffa and his Topiary
Heffa and his TopiaryHere's an elephant who likes to garden. He's particularly proud of his topiary, so he posed for a photo with it. 4" tall. 2009. Sold.
Snowshoe Hare
Snowshoe HareI began needle felting bunnies a few years back when I wrote an online class around Easter time (if you'd like to learn how to make your own bunnies, you can find the class here). It turns out that bunnies are a lot of fun to make! Brian and I have made several of them together. This one is a snowshoe(ing) hare! 2008. Sold.
Zombie Bunny
Zombie BunnyI began needle felting bunnies a few years back when I wrote an online class around Easter time (if you'd like to learn how to make your own bunnies, you can find the class here). It turns out that bunnies are a lot of fun to make! Brian and I have made several of them together. This one was not quite as cute as all the rest. We jumped on the zombie bandwagon and made our very own zombie bunny. He's even got one eye dangling out of its socket. This bunny amused enough people that it was featured on Neatorama. 2009. Sold.
Carousel Horse
Carousel HorseThe carousel horse was a project meant to explore armatures in needle felted figures. To keep the horse from having spaghetti-legs, I felted them around a wire armature that was first wrapped in strips of fabric. The pole and base are epoxy clay sculpted over wood and painted in acrylics. The mane and tail are mohair. 16" tall. 2007. Sold.
Santa Cthulhu #5
Santa Cthulhu #5Our 5th needle felted Santa Cthulhu includes a felted Shoggoth to pull Santa's Octi-sleigh. For the full story on this creation and LOTS more pictures, please go to this journal entry deovted to it. 2013. Sold.
Zombie Bunny Returns
Zombie Bunny ReturnsHe's back for the sequel: The Return of Zombie Bunny! Thanks to astounding reproduction rates, the world's bunny population had returned to normal. What are the odds that another bunnypocalyse would occur? Doomed to an inevitable outcome, this is only one of billions of undead bunnies soon to be found in your neighborhood! 10" tall. 2011. Available for sale at The Odd Luminary.
The March Hare
The March HareThe March Hare was an obvious choice for us since we have so much fun felting bunnies! Our version of Lewis Carroll's famous leporid stands about 15" tall and comes with his very own dormouse friend. 2012. Available for sale on Etsy.
Pumpkin Faces
Pumpkin FacesI started making these pumpkins with faces back in 2004. Every year I make a few more because they are fun and people tend to snap them right up out of my Etsy shop. These are just a few of them. They're usually about 5" tall and can be happy, grumpy, sad, manic, angry ... pumpkins have good days and bad days like the rest of us! If you'd like to learn how to make your own pumpkins like these, you can find my needle felted pumpkins class here.
Creepy Pumpkins
Creepy PumpkinsThe pumpkin faces I felt by myself tend to be fairly normal (once you get past the whole pumpkins-with-faces part). The pumpkins that Brian and I felt together tend to be a little bit creepy. These are a few examples of pumpkins he came up with and I helped finish. Clockwise from top left: the Creepy Cat-Eyed Pumpkin, The Evil Angler-Pumpkin (with candy corn lure to attract children), The Skele-Pumpkin (with ghostie stem), and the One-Eyed Purple Pumpkin Eater.
Santa Cthulhu #1
Santa Cthulhu #1In the fall of 2007, I started making little needle felted Santa Cthulhu heads as tree ornaments. Brian took it one step further with his idea for a full-figure Santa Cthulhu with a little boy sitting on his lap. This was the end result. It was a lot of fun, and we've made some sort of Santa Cthulhu a yearly project ever since. 10" tall. 2007. Sold.
Santa Cthulhu #3
Santa Cthulhu #3Our third Santa Cthulhu was a larger project because it also include Mrs. Cthulhu. Santa has his bag all stuffed with body parts and is checking his list while Mrs. Cthulhu serves cookies shaped like screaming children. Ah, what a glorious time of the year. 12" tall. 2009. Sold.
Octopus
OctopusIt's an octopus attacking the yellow submarine. What more can I say?
Little Aliens
Little AliensThese little aliens are another fun project. I make a few every so often because they make me laugh. They are usually under 3" tall.
Santa Cthulhu #2
Santa Cthulhu #2Our second Santa Cthulhu was similar to the first, but this year he had a little girl on his lap. Instead of giving her a candy cane after listing to her wish list, Cthulhu offered her a pretty pink squid. 12" tall. 2008. Sold.
Baby Cthulhu
Baby CthulhuEven the great Cthulhu was a wee tot at one point! Here we have felted him in all his infantile glory, complete with his own earth-shaped binky. He may be cute at the moment but be careful, I've heard he grows fast and has quite the appetite. 8" tall, 2012. Sold.
Baby Dragons
Baby DragonsBaby dragons need hugs! I've made several of these little guys over the years. They are fun because you can vary the colors and details all you like. They are part of an online class I wrote if you'd like to learn how to make your own. They're usually about 8" tall. And cute.
Giraffe Waiting to Swim
Giraffe Waiting to SwimRemember when you were a kid and your parents told you not to go swimming right after eating? I never understood why. This little giraffe was told the same thing. He really wants to go for a swim! You can see he's got his yellow duckie inner tube and swim fins on, but he just had his lunch and his mom said he had to wait 30 minutes. So, here he sits. 8" tall, 2012. Sold.
