Broken Memories
This was one of five paintings I completed specifically for an art show in
Manhattan. The show had a theme of "Text in Visual Art," so I approached
this theme by gathering photo references of anything in the world around
me that had text already on it. The title of each painting then became
something in reference to the text in the painting. This was from a photo
I took in a cemetery in Tallahassee, FL. The grave was a child's, and the
stone had been shattered (by weather or by vandalism, I didn't know).
Someone had attempted to reassemble the pieces, and this was how I found
it.
